Meet Our Mentors

Sonya Woodard

CEO /Executive Director

Sonya Woodard

Sonya Woodard knows firsthand about the power of purpose. She founded Girls of Transformation 10 years ago, inspired by her own journey of transformation, to help young girls find their way to the path of becoming empowered women of purpose. Sonya made many poor choices that resulted in her becoming the mother of two by the age of 17. Because she understands firsthand the behaviors, thoughts, and perceptions that led to her choices as a youth, she knows what it takes to help other young ladies avoid making the same choices - and this is why she founded Girls of Transformation.

Sonya is a born again Christian, walking with the Lord for over 20 years, a journey that has helped her find her unique purpose, learn to never give up, and know that there is greatness inside her. She is an entrepreneur and business owner. She is a graduate of Miami Springs Senior High, Miami-Dade College (AA in Business Administration) and Florida Atlantic University (BA in Business Management) and the owner of Business Credit Professional, Inc.

Jenny Crews

Mentor

Jenny is known to say, “the sky is not the limit, but reach for the stars.” She is a strong believer of Jesus Christ and the “straight and narrow path,” which she has followed since surrendering her life over to God as a teenager. At age 16, she began to pray about purpose and God’s will for her life. Shortly after, she was called and chosen to lead the youth - not just to lead, but lead by example - teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jenny is known for her stern but genuine personality.

Jenny’s career path has been varied and exciting. After graduating from Miami Central Senior High, she studied Mass Communication and Journalism at Miami-Dade College, had a change of heart, and went on to ATI College of Health where she graduated Summa Cum Laude as a Certified BIlling and Coding Specialist and Medical Administrative Assistant. She returned to school to pursue Sociology and is a few semesters away from graduating with honors from Broward College, going on to a BS in Sociology at University of Miami, where she aims to pursue her PhD in Sociology. Jenny works at Bank of America and is a youth leader, prayer warrior, youth bible study teacher, witness team member, assistant with the youth praise team, and a choir member.
