GWP After School Program

​Program Description:
The Girls with Purpose (GWP) Afterschool Program is a structured, faith-centered youth development program serving girls in grades K–8. The program provides a safe and supportive environment led by dedicated female mentors who are committed to fostering academic achievement, social development, and emotional well-being.
GWP offers a comprehensive approach that combines academic support with personal development. Participants receive assistance aligned with school curriculum and teacher expectations, while also building essential study skills, organization strategies, and positive learning habits. In addition, the program incorporates youth mentoring to promote confidence, self-esteem, and positive peer relationships.
Students also engage in weekly life-skills workshops designed to build character, decision-making, and practical life competencies, as well as monthly career exploration sessions featuring guest speakers who provide exposure to various professions and pathways. To ensure individualized support, each participant completes a diagnostic assessment to identify strengths, areas for growth, and learning needs, allowing staff to develop a personalized plan that supports academic progress and overall development. Through this holistic and intentional approach, the Girls with Purpose Afterschool Program equips participants with the tools and support necessary to succeed academically and grow into confident, well-rounded individuals.
HOMEWORK GUIDANCE
At GWP, we offer homework guidance to help students complete assignments successfully. Our support includes assistance with understanding instructions, light tutoring, developing study skills, and accessing resources. To ensure academic progress, homework is checked and completed daily.
ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY
We provide electronic devices for students to use during our program, ensuring they have the tools they need to complete their homework and stay up-to-date with their schoolwork.
AMBITION & ACHIEVEMENT
At GWP, we set high standards for our girls. Our aim is for 100% of our participants to improve their grades and ultimately earn a spot on the honor roll. We believe this goal is achievable through consistency, hard work, and dedication.
FREE TRANSPORTATION
We offer FREE transportation with pick-up and drop-off services to schools for students residing in the Miami Gardens area, making it convenient for them to get to and from school.
PERSONALIZE ACADEMIC SUPPORT
At GWP, each student will receive a personalized academic diagnostic assessment to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs, enabling us to create a tailored plan for their academic success.
YOUTH MENTORING
At GWP, we offer youth mentoring to our students, providing them with guidance, support, and positive role models to help them navigate life's challenges and achieve their full potential.
